Maya Zehavi's works echo moments from immediate reality, detach themselves from it, alter its internal structure, and generate new systems of relationships.
Photography serves as the point of departure, yet the modes of representation shift, creating gaps between them that reveal a singular, enigmatic world.
Zehavi searches for the physicality of the image and for the moments in which image and material intersect.
She reflects on the ways in which the support and modes of display shape the perception and visibility of the image, questioning the conventional and restrained manner in which photographs are typically hung on the wall.
